Peaksware Sponsors VIP Gift Lounge at USATF Olympic Trials
June 30, 2008 - Eugene, OR - USATF Olympic Trials
Peaksware participated in the USA Track & Field Olympic Trials June 28 and 29 as one of a select group of sponsors of a V.I.P. Gift Lounge which hosted a number of past, present and hopeful USA Track & Field Olympic athletes and coaches after each day's events. The time with the coaches and athletes gave Peaksware's representatives a chance to demo the new TrainingPeaks 3.0 software application due for release in the fall of 2008.
Olympians such as Willie Banks, Dan O'Brien, Carol Lewis and others were quite intrigued by the potential use of TrainingPeaks 3.0 in both their own training or as a coach. Mary Slaney (Decker), the only athlete to hold every American record from 800 meters to 10,000 meters and still holding the records in the 1500, mile and 3000 commented after watching a demo of TrainingPeaks 3.0, "I always trained the way I felt [in the 1980's] and if I felt good I always over-trained and ran too hard...I needed something like this [TrainingPeaks] in the '80's"!
Although Track & Field coaches and athletes have not historically used TrainingPeaks, the ease of use and immense customization in the new version 3.0 allow for such broad application that many Gift Lounge attendees are now considering implementing TrainingPeaks into their coaching business and/or personal training. Whether installed as a custom white label training software branded for them, provided in partnership with Peaksware, or used right on the web, TrainingPeaks version 3.0 peaked the interest of individuals involved in a variety of pursuits including: university athletic departments, health clubs, news publishers and of course elite athletes and coaches.
In addition to demonstrating TrainingPeaks 3.0 and WKO+, Peaksware conducted one-question interviews with a number of Olympians including Mike Powell, Dave Johnson, Jeff Demps and more.
